Mentre le prime espressioni inglesi definiscono semplicemente l'inutilità della cosa, le ultime due sottolineano l'irritazione che nascerebbe per un'azione destinata al fallimento, dalla perdita di tempo ecc. - Useless si usa normalmente anche come aggettivo in funzione attributiva ( un'informazione inutile = a useless piece of information) e predicativa ( questo attrezzo è inutile = this tool is useless), mentre no use e no good hanno solo funzione predicativa: "aiutala" "sarebbe inutile, è troppo stupida!" = "help her" "it would be no use / no good, she's too thick!".
